Aspen is Situated high in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. The city of Aspen is 200 miles southwest of Denver and 130 miles northeast of Grand Junction. The city of Aspen Colorado is the largest town and county seat of Pitkin County. And it is high in the Colorado Rocky Mountains, boasting an elevation of 7,815 feet.

Aspen was founded as a silver mining camp during the 1800's silver boom in Colorado. Originally, Aspen was the homeland of the Ute Indians who named the area the “Shining Mountains”.

Aspen later emerged as a skiing mecca and resort area after World War II when a small group of entrepreneurs and mountain skiing visionaries came to realize the value of one of the city of Aspen's inexhaustible resources – the snow!
